BBC News – Sicilian volcano Mount Etna erupts again


Mount Etna, Europe’s highest active volcano, has begun erupting again:  It is the third time the Sicilian volcano has erupted in the past month.  Etna seems to be on an 11 days cycle of eruptions and this one was the strongest this year.

Despite the scale of the event, the authorities in Italy have said it does not currently pose any threat to local towns, and the nearby airport of Catania remains open.
