A powerful 6.8 Magnitude Earthquake Struck the Vanuatu Islands Region of the South Pacific Ocean.

December 21, 2012 A 6.8 Magnitude Earthquake Struck Near the South Seas Island of Vanuatu: The quake struck at a depth 207 kilometers (129 miles) so there is no danger of a tsunami. The powerful tremor was 391 kilometers NNW of Port-Vila, Vanuatu and 2,075 miles (1,289 miles) northeast of Brisbane, Australia.

The quake struck at 10:28PM GMT (London).
