Category III Hurricane Eugene Churns Well off the Coast of Baja California.

August 3, 2011 – – Category III Hurricane Eugene Tears Up the Northwest Pacific: Eugene is classified as a Category III Hurricane, with sustained winds of 115 miles per hour (MPH). Category III Hurricane winds range from 111 to 131 MPH. Eugene is positioned well of the southern tip of Baja California at 2AM PDT, Wednesday August 3rd; traveling 14 MPH to the WNW (west-north-west). At this rate of speed, Eugene is traveling 336 miles per day and will be well out into the Pacific Ocean by August 7th (see map). Any ships within 300 miles of latitude 15*N12′ and Longitude 113*N00′, should request ship reports every three hours from the National Hurricane Warning Center of NOAA.
