6.2 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes the Philipines at 1:47PM PDT July 11th

A 6.2 magnitude earthquake stuck off the Philippines Province of Negros Occidental, less than an hour ago (1:47 PM, PDT). The quake was relatively shallow at 6 miles, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center. No tsunami warning was issued. The “Ring of Fire” remains active and a “Major Event,” similar to the Japanese March 11th quake, is possible at any time. Stay tuned to the disaster, news and events blog for further updates.
