September 5, 2012 – Picture of the Day – Fire in the sky: This is a photo sequence containing 70 lightning strikes, taken at Karavostamo, Ikaria Island, Greece during a severe thunderstorm that took place the night of the total lunar eclipse at June 15, 2011. This sequence was made by setting a camera on a tripod and taking 20 second shots continuously.
