August 4, 2012 – Global Drought Map 2012 – A World in Crisis: The global drought map, above, is for today – August 4, 2012. The Drought Risk scale color codes the global map. As you can see portions northern Alaska, Canada the United States, Mexico, eastern Brazil and Argentina are suffering moderate to extreme drought conditions. Africa is relatively unscathed, with only minor areas of drought. Russia and India are in a crisis drought situation, with major portions of both countries suffering high to extreme drought. Europe has some pockets of drought, mainly Italy and Eastern Europe. Asia, Australia and New Zealand all have pockets of drought, with Western Australia and most of New Zealand suffering the most.
The implications of this global drought crisis are much higher food prices, as the “bread basket” of the U.S. and Russia and Ukraine are under high to extreme drought conditions. Additionally, water resources will be under pressure; coupled with dwindling well water issues and territorial disputes; make the 2012 drought a disaster.
Unfortunately, I do not expect the situation to improve anytime soon. We are currently under the influence of seven transiting to transiting Uranus in Aries square (90 degrees) Pluto in Capricorn aspects. From a weather perspective, these aspects call for hot dry weather coupled with sudden and unexpected changes to cold dry weather. This will continue through 2015. The peak times for these aspects, and, consequently extreme drought and sudden cold dry spells are Jun. 24, 2012; Sep. 18, 2012; May 20, 2013; Nov. 1, 2013; Apr. 21, 2014; Dec. 14, 2014 and Mar. 16, 2015. A couple of months, either before or after these dates; will see the worst drought periods. This means that the 6/24/12 and 9/18/12 aspects blend together into one long drought period; lasting through the end of 2012.
The April 21, 2014 aspect is of particular note, in that it contains a Grand Cross with Mars, Pluto, Uranus and Jupiter in very tight orb. Global war is a very real threat under this aspect. Food riots, rebellions, insurrections, civil wars, and global strife will be seen
